Mixed up Promotions was formed in early September 2011 due to a lack of decent underground events in the local area and had their first event at the Storm nightclub in Launceston, Cornwall. Since then they have held various events at The White Rabbit, Calstock Hall, HQ and Vybz Nightclub, While working with local DJ's and producers such as the South West's finest D'n'B & Dubstep DJ's (Officially), Jman (S.W best MC)  and The Scribes , who are new wave hip hop four-piece they have also had artist such  Royal T perform for them.Next year looks good for them as they plan to bring out the big guns and have a big D'n'B headliner at Storm at the beginning of February.as well as  plans to work with ' 2Loud ' at H20 also look out for a event or two held at the Voodoo Lounge and a Mixed-Up event at Calstock Hall in Easter. I think this will be a night to remember and I wish them luck with their relaunch.

"Britain should pride itself on producing great cross-cultural institutions such as Dreadzone" Daily Mirror
Dreadzone will be returning to the town of Barnstaple on December 1st showcasing new tracks from their highly awaited forthcoming album. They will be treating you with new unheard material as well as all of the favourites from their back catalogue.
The core members Greg Dread, original bass master Leo Williams, the unmistakable MC Spee, legendary reggae vocalist Earl 16 alongside Chris Compton on guitar and Bazil on technology make up the current Dreadzone live line up.

Electro-dub pioneers Dreadzone formed in 1993 when ex-Big Audio Dynamite drummer Greg Roberts teamed up with Tim Bran, with the duo soon joined by bassist Leo Williams and keyboardist Dan Donovan, also formerly of Big Audio Dynamite, completing the group’s first line-up. A festival favourite, Dreadzone opened the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 1994 and began to bring their unique blend of electro, dub and reggae to a wider audience, going on to chart seven Top 60 singles (including their Top 20 hit ‘Little Britain’) and are still going strong after 18 years.
Dreadzone released The Good, The Bad And The Dread - a compendium of their excellent musical story so far in 2011 and their ground-breaking 1995 album ‘Second Light’ was re-released in March 2012 by EMI as a two disc special edition featuring previously unreleased live concert material. The band is currently writing their eagerly awaited new studio album. As well as live favourites from their back catalogue the band will be showcasing new tracks at their shows this autumn.

Mungo’s Hi-Fi and YT at Bare Safe

So Mungo’s Hi-Fi and YT at Bare Safe on Friday 7th October at Exeter Phoenix was one of the best nights I have been to for a long time. For those of you that don’t know Bare Safe is an acronym for Bizarre Absurd Ridiculous Easy Skankin Avinit Festival Experience and this it truly is. Over the past year and more at The Cavern and The Cellar Bar they have had live acts such as Gypsy Unit, Slamboree, First Degree Burns, Strictly Steppers, The Magnus Puto Band and Peachy Farmer as well as local and top underground Dj’s performing at their events. These nights could easily be describe as some of the most outstanding, friendliest, laid back, amazing, fun-filled evenings I have had.
              Mungo's Hi Fi
The evening started in the auditorium with local producer Illogik playing out some home grown Dub setting the mood nicely thorough the Function1 Sound system while in the Bar on Unit 8’s newly constructed rig Funky Mucker started the night with some funky breaky remixes. Blazenstein and Shire Roots from the Irie Bingo Cru were up next in the main room bringing the best in Devon reggae with Shire Roots on the Mic and Blazenstein on the wheels followed by the Vibration Lab selectors. Meanwhile in the bar Unit 8 selectors where keeping the crowd busy with a Jungle set from Yug, who despite a few power cuts still kept the crowd going, a mighty set from Skyhigharist followed by Dephicit who mixed in a few of his own tunes. Mouldy soul was up next in the bar with a Glitch Hop set composed of  his own material while Mungo’s and YT were in the main room starting their epic two hour set playing classics such as Scream and World News, respect to the Devon reggae massive who skanked away for the whole night in the packed out main room. J man finished the evening in the bar with a rinsing jungle set that had the place rammed and bouncing.

Skyhigharist   Dephicit   J man

Despite Bare Safe usually being in smaller venues the amazing atmosphere was still the same. Big up to Promoter Oli for bringing Scottish reggae legends Mungo’s Hi-Fi to Exeter for the first time and for pulling off an amazing night.
Can't wait for the next one on November 2nd at The Cellar Bar with live act Monk3y Logic and Dj support from Pie Man, Olmec, Sharky, Panda and Ike. Bare Safe presents: Broken Records Takeover

Art-Exjam 2-Exe bridges

So Saturday was definitely a success with lots of graffiti artist turning up and representing their crews.
Big respect to these guys as although Devon county council commissioned the many artist evolved to cover the subway and Exe bridges with amazing art pieces they all gave there time and materials for free.
Finally a council sees the sense in getting good graffiti artists in to display there artwork on public walls, the subway.
Heres a few photos of the artists at work.

Music - Dubstep - Kotch

Click here for Kotch on facebook
This is a remix of Dub fx's Step on my trip by Kotch, with it heavy pounding bass line and light tight snares it get my hair on end and my head nodding every time, as do most of Kotch's tunes.
Kotch is a DJ/producer from Devon,UK. His production is clear and clean and his roots seem to lie in Dubstep, but his more recent tune a remix of Bucovina is in the Eectro/Balkan swing genre and is just as good as Step to my trip, I love the Swing/Balkan sound with a deep fat bass line, with over 4000 plays on sound cloud its available for download via his facebook page, expect to here this tune out on a dance floor near you.

Vj - Rastamouse - Me

Rastamouse is a British animated stop motion entertainment series that is aimed at children under six years of age. It features a group of crime-fighting special agents named Rastamouse, Scratchy and Zoomer, who are all mice and who solve mysteries and have adventures. The first of the 26 episodes of the initial series was shown in the afternoon of 31 January 2011 on CBeebies, a UK BBC channel. From 7 March 2011, the programme was repeated in the early mornings, on BBC2. The second series started on 11 July 2011, on CBeebies. Its excellent. Due to my love of music and Rastmouse this video came about.

Music - Balken Gypsy Bass - Slamboree

Slamboree are a beautiful sounding band from Leeds who have had much success on the festival circuit this year (2011). I expect big thing for them next year 2012 I saw them at the Cavern in Exeter and despite sound engineer problems they where amazing.
There blend of Balkan, Gypsy and Bass music got the whole dance floor shaking and grooving along with a group of jugglers on stage.

Click here for Slamboree on facebook

Music - Moombahton - Mackai

Mackai is a producer who hails from Sydney, Australia who has got me into a Genre of music called Moombahton. Moombahton is a fusion of House with Reggaeton - Reggaeton blends Jamaican musical influences of dance hall, with those of Latin America, such as salsa, Latin hip hop, and electronica. It is Electro house with the tempo of Reggaeton, around 108-112 Bpm. It was invented in 2010 by American DJ and producer Dave Nada.I have always love Reggaeton but felt it was missing something and was too vocal and not enough fat wobbling bass Moombahton is a step in the right direction.
Mackia on Faceboo
I didn't like or understand Moombahton till i heard Mackai, so far Mackai hasn't made a tune I dislike .The two tunes I listen to most are Carny and his remix of Funk D's Legendary both get me moving with their hypnotic Latin drum beats and pulsing bass. His production is clear and I'd love to hear his tunes on a big sound system. Check him out on Sound Cloud or click the image for Facebook page.
